The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your checkers around the game board and get them from the board quicker than your opposing player who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a game in Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you will be able to shift your checkers is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and just how you shift your chips are decided on by your overall gambling strategies. Players use different tactics in the differing stages of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Tactic
The goal of the Running Game tactic is to lure all your pieces into your inside board and bear them off as quickly as you could. This plan concentrates on the speed of shifting your chips with little or no time spent to hit or stop your competitor’s pieces. The best scenario to employ this strategy is when you believe you can shift your own checkers faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor’s pieces; or 3) the opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking plan.
The Blocking Game Tactic
The primary goal of the blocking tactic, by the title, is to stop the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your pieces quickly. Once you’ve created the blockage for your opponent’s movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other pieces rapidly from the board. You will need to also have an apparent plan when to back off and move the chips that you employed for the blockade. The game gets intriguing when the opponent uses the same blocking technique.
